In October 2019 we learned that we had successfully met the standard to achieve Hallmark One. This is a national quality scheme which assesses all aspects of how village halls are run. We were very pleased to achieve this because it gives everyone confidence that we are running the Community Centre professionally and to a high standard. We were assessed against a number of criteria including the way the Committee works, management of finance, governance, and our procedures. To achieve the standard we had to complete a comprehensive questionnaire followed by an assessment visit.
From the very beginning we have been advised and supported by “ACTion with communities in Cumbria” based in Penrith. We are particularly grateful to Hellen Aitken, the ACT Development Officer, who has provided invaluable support. We are also grateful for support provided by ‘ACRE’ (Action with Communities in Rural England).
